Using Social Media to Get People Talking

People love to talk about camping and campgrounds online. In fact, they’re likely already talking about yours. It’s time to join the conversation (if you haven’t already) — so you can help drive the quality, accuracy and frequency of mentions about your KOA — and build an ongoing relationship with your guests to keep your campground top of mind.
As part of your franchise fees, Kampgrounds of America, Inc. uses sophisticated social listening to monitor what’s being said about the KOA brand and our campgrounds online. While the vast majority of conversation around KOA is positive, social listening allows us to stay ahead of negative conversations and help you mitigate them if necessary. A way you can do some online listening on your own is by setting up Google Alerts to notify you when your campground is mentioned on websites like news sites and blogs.
How to Setup Google Alerts
- To help you easily and effectively monitor specific mentions of your campground, set up a free Google Alerts account at www.google.com/alerts.
- You can set up as many alerts as you like, using search terms relative to what you want to track.
- Google Alerts will send an e-mail to you each time any of the keywords you’ve indicated to the system are encountered online — namely news sites and blogs
- Checking your e-mail account daily and following the links in the e-mails you receive will allow you to easily monitor mentions of your campground.

Facebook Syndicator
Another great tool for you to use on Facebook is the KOA Facebook Syndicator. The Syndicator allows us to “push” content to the business pages of participating campgrounds to supplement what you’re currently publishing.
